Avalanche Skills Training

Learn the skills to play safe this winter

Take our progressive Avalanche Skills Training (AST) with professional Canadian Avalanche Association certified instructors and be prepared for a winter of fun in the backcountry.

What sets us apart?

Over 40 years of avalanche safety training. We've been offering reputable, mountain safety education since 1978. Our Avalanche Canada curriculum is instructed by highly-certified ACMG and CAA instructors and guides who live, work and play in the mountains.

Convenient location. The classroom portion of our avalanche programs are held on the UCalgary campus, and the field portion is held exclusively at Fortress Mountain in Kananaskis, just one hour from Calgary.

Shuttle, carpool or self-drive. Optional van transportation to Fortress Mountain for day 2 of the AST 1.
