Deals for students

The Outdoor Centre is able to keep course and rental fees affordable for students by offering programs to the public to offset costs. In addition to great prices, students get the following benefits.

Free climbing and bouldering wall access

Current University of Calgary students are automatic Active Living members and get free access to the climbing and bouldering walls. Get your wristbands first at the Outdoor Centre front desk or Active Living Client Services.

10% discount on rentals

Students automatically receive a 10% discount off of rental prices. Must be enrolled at the University of Calgary.

Large group rentals 10% discount

Not-for-profits, school or youth groups and other large groups are eligible for a 10% rental discount. Fill out the Large Group Rentals form to get things started.

Custom group bookings - schools discount

Is your school part of an umbrella contract with the University of Calgary Outdoor Centre? If so, you may be eligible for discounted rates. Fill out the Custom Group Activities Booking Form to find out more.

Program participants 10% discount

All program participants get 10% discount off of rentals — for those programs that don't already include rentals in the course fee. Be sure to tell the front desk what program you are registered in.

Cross-Country Ski Sampler 50% rental discount

Our Cross-Country Ski Sampler includes 50% off ski rentals. When you book your gear, tell the front desk staff you are in the course and they will apply the discount.

Skate Skiing 50% rental discount

Our A: Intro to Skate Skiing – Series includes 50% off ski rentals. When you book your gear, tell the front desk staff you are in the course and they will apply the discount.

Buy a bike lock for half price

Purchase a U-lock and cable for $30 (retail $60) at our front desk. Watch a video on how to properly secure your bike and learn more about this campus-wide bike security initiative.

Backcountry Cooking class free with extended canoe trips

When you register for an extended canoe trip, you can join our spring Cooking With Ang backcountry cooking class. After registering for your trip, email Angela Harder to let her know that you are interested.
